Three new products have been released by Novamont during the last "Salone del Gusto", the popular event organized in Turin (Italy) by Slow Food and dedicated to sustainable food. The first we're going to introduce is the compostable heat resistant plate for hot food. As all Mater-Bi products, this innovative plate is fully biodegradable and compostable and can be disposed of together with organic waste after use.
The first heat resistant compostable plate completes the Mater-Bi foodservice product range that include: plates, cups and lids, cutlery, bowls, drinking straws, cups and spoons for ice cream.
The new Mater-Bi grade suitable to produce plates for hot food:
- is heat resistant up to 100° C
- is approved for food contact
- has an high content of renewable raw material
- shows similar characteristics to polypropylene in injection moulding process
- is compostable according to EN13432
After use, the new Mater-Bi heat-resistant plate can be recycled together with food scraps in anaerobic digestion and composting facilities, thus reducing non-recyclible waste production and greenhouse gas emissions.
The new heat-resistant grade for injection moulding will be available soon in Australia, contact us for further details.
